Celebrating a Centennial
Ahead of their centennial celebration in 2022, Concord Academy has launched a new capital campaign for campus enhancements and endowment giving.
One of the central stories of Concord Academy’s 100 years is how in the 1950’s a beloved head of school rescued an abandoned church in the New Hampshire hills and moved it—board by board—to the CA campus, creating a much-needed space for community gathering and quiet reflection. To adorn the nave’s large empty white wall, a group of students hand-carved Corinthians 1:13 onto a huge wooden panel. The school community continues to gather here several times a week and the carving remains a cherished artifact.
We used characters from the carving to create the campaign wordmark. But as we proceeded with the case statement and other campaign materials we created a font based on the carving to help the school deliver new messages in a truly unique and familiar voice that resonates profoundly with alums as well as the broader CA community.
